Dormer Valley Replacement
Case Study – Dormer Valley Replacement, Goostrey, Cheshire
Roof Care North Staffs were asked to replace defective lead valleys to the dormers on a detached house in Goostrey, Cheshire. The property is part of a small development of high-quality detached homes.
The Project
The work involved stripping out the roof tiles and removing the defective leadwork. The valleys were relined with new underlay before installing a modern dry-fix GRP valley trough system, chosen for its durability and low maintenance. New battens were fitted, and the tiles were carefully recut to suit the new valleys on the dormers at the front of the property.
New lead saddles were fitted at the bottom of each valley, and the ridge tiles were rebedded using premixed roofing mortar to complete the installation.
The Outcome
The finished valleys now provide a long-lasting, maintenance-free solution with a clean and precise appearance.
Feedback
The client was delighted with the results and shared the following feedback:
“I would like to thank you and the young men who carried out the work, plus the scaffolders. It has been a pleasure to have you all here and I’m sure that I found the right people to carry out the work. I appreciated the way you kept me informed at the various stages and kept to schedule (weather permitting). The roof looks much improved and they were tidy workers. I would have no doubt about recommending you to any of my friends or neighbours.”
